Seniors and Living
Assisted living units now rented through De Woningzoeker
Wetland Wonen offers assisted living accommodations in Giethoorn, Vollenhove, Genemuiden, Hasselt, and Zwartsluis. Previously, people registered with the care organizations IJsselheem and Zorggroep Oude en Nieuwe Land if they wanted to live in assisted living accommodations. The care organizations determined whether people were assigned. To make the system more transparent, the assisted living accommodations are now also rented through De Woningzoeker (Home Finder).
The Woningzoeker ( www.dewoningzoeker.nl ) is the website where Wetland Wonen offers its social housing units for rent in the municipalities of Steenwijkerland, Zwartewaterland, and Zwolle. The website is also used by other housing associations. Therefore, applications for properties from these associations can also be submitted.
Starting November 15, 2020, all available assisted living accommodations from Wetland Wonen will be published on De Woningzoeker. People who would like to live in an assisted living apartment (in the future) can register on De Woningzoeker. After registering, they can apply for an available (assisted) apartment themselves. Allocation is often based on the length of registration. This means that the person who has been registered the longest and meets the allocation criteria (such as income, age group, and household size) is eligible to rent the apartment.
Registration Period:
There are waiting lists at Zorggroep Oude en Nieuwe Land and IJsselheem for people who want to live in assisted living. These people often registered with the care institution much earlier. While maintaining their accumulated registration period, these people, mostly elderly, can now register with De Woningzoeker. They have been informed of this by letter. If you have not received a letter and believe you are on the waiting list for Zorggroep Oude en Nieuwe Land or IJsselheem, please contact Wetland Wonen.
Living in assisted living.
Assisted living accommodations are independent apartments or ground-level senior housing located in or near a nursing home or residential care facility. These facilities often offer various amenities, such as a hairdresser or a restaurant. Home care can be requested for assisted living accommodations.
Living with a care indication under the Long-Term Care Act:
People with a care indication from the Care Assessment Center (CIZ) under the Long-Term Care Act do not register with De Woningzoeker. They must register with the care consultant of the relevant care provider. For the municipality of Steenwijkerland, this is Zorggroep Oude en Nieuwe Land. The care mediators of ZONL are always happy to help.
You can reach them via: zorgbemiddeling@zorggroeponl.nl or via the Customer Contact Team: (0521) 53 99 99.

Living in the future
This topic has been in the news a lot lately.
People are living longer and staying in their own homes longer. Many dread moving and would much rather adapt the homes they've lived in for so long.
However, it's important to consider early on whether your current home can be adapted. And you might still want to move to an apartment if your health deteriorates and you require more care.
It's becoming increasingly clear that many seniors haven't yet considered registering as a home seeker. Nevertheless, it's important to register as a home seeker. This will allow you to build up your registration time. This is crucial if you want to be eligible for a property you apply for. You can easily remain registered for several years. You'll automatically receive an annual notification regarding renewal. If you respond promptly, you'll remain registered.
Renting from Wetland Wonen
Here are some points to consider if you want to rent a (different) house/apartment from Wetland Wonen.
It's important that you're registered with the housing association you want to rent from. Once you're registered, you'll accrue registration time (previously called accumulating points). This registration time is important when allocating housing.
Suppose you qualify for a home, but the other person on the list has been registered longer and has therefore accumulated more registration time, then the home will pass you by. So register on time. You can do this on the Woningzoeker website: www.dewoningzoeker.nl
You will then receive an annual notification asking whether you wish to renew your registration. You must do this yourself; you can also do this via the Woningzoeker website. If you have any questions or don't have access to a computer, please contact the Wetland Wonen office.
If you are registered, it is also important to ensure that your information, such as income and family composition, is correct. We recommend checking this information regularly. This can prevent disappointment.
When registering, it's important to have your annual income information ready. This also applies to your bank account number so we can pay the registration fee.
