New way of allocating for sheltered housing from Wetland Wonen

Publication date: 16-11-2020

Wetland Wonen rents out assisted living accommodation in Giethoorn, Vollenhove, Genemuiden, Hasselt and Zwartsluis. Previously, people reported to care organizations IJsselheem and Zorggroep Oude en Nieuwe Land if they wanted to live in an assisted living home. The care organization assessed to whom the home was allocated. To make the system more transparent, the sheltered homes are now also rented out via the De Woningzoeker internet site.

The Housing Finder: transparent allocation of social housing
The Housing Finder ( www.dewoningzoeker.nl ) is the website on which Wetland Wonen offers its social housing in the municipalities of Steenwijkerland, Zwartewaterland and Zwolle for rent. The website is also used by other housing associations, which is why you can also respond to homes of these associations from Kampen, IJsselmuiden and Zwolle.
From 15 November 2020, all available sheltered housing from Wetland Wonen will be published on De Woningzoeker. People who (in the future) would like to live in an assisted living accommodation, register on De Woningzoeker. After registration, people can respond to an available (assisted) home on De Woningzoeker. For homes in the 'Wish and free sector module', the allocation is based on the registration period. This means that the person who has been registered the longest and who meets the allocation conditions (such as income, age category and size of the household) may rent the house.

Duration of registration
The sheltered housing at Zorggroep Oude en Nieuwe Land and IJsselheem had a waiting list at the care institution. People who want to be eligible for an assisted living accommodation had registered here. These people can now register on De Woningzoeker, while retaining the accrued registration time. They have been informed about this by letter. If you have not received a letter and you think you are registered on the waiting list of Zorggroep Oude en Nieuwe land or IJsselheem, you can contact Wetland Wonen.

Living in an
assisted living accommodation Aanleunwoningen are independent apartments or ground-bound senior housing that are located in or near a nursing or care home. Nursing and care homes often have various facilities that can be used for a fee, for example a hairdresser or other activities. If you live in an assisted living home, you can make use of home care and WMO facilities, such as domestic help.

Living with an indication under the Long-term Care Act
People who have a Long-term Care Act (WLZ) indication do not register with De Woningzoeker. They report to the care consultant of the care provider concerned. For the municipality of Steenwijkerland this is Zorggroep Oude en Nieuwe Land (via telephone number 0527 61 49 95). For the municipality of Zwartewaterland this is IJsselheem (via telephone number 088 33 944 00).

Living in the future

This topic has been in the news a lot lately.

People are getting older and living longer in their own home. People dread moving house and would actually rather adapt their home, in which they have lived for so long.

Nevertheless, it is important to ask yourself in time whether the current home can be adapted. And maybe you would like to move to an apartment if your health deteriorates and you need more care.

Increasingly, it appears that many seniors have not yet thought of registering as a home seeker. However, it is important that you register as a home seeker. You then build up registration time. This is important if you want to be considered for a property to which you are responding. You can safely be registered for a few years. You will be automatically notified of renewal every year. If you respond to this in time, you will simply remain registered.

Renting from Wetland Living

Here are some points for attention if you want to rent a (other) house/apartment from Wetland Wonen.

It is important that you are registered with the corporation from which you want to rent. If you are registered, you build up registration time (previously this was called building up points). This registration period is important when allocating homes.

Suppose you qualify for a home, but the other person on the list has been registered for longer and has therefore built up more registration time, then the home will pass you by. So register on time. You can do this on the website of the Housing Finder: www.dewoningzoeker.nl

You will then be notified every year whether you wish to renew your registration. You must do this yourself; this can also be done via the website of the Home Finder. If you can't figure it out or if you don't have a computer, go to the Wetland Wonen office with your questions.

If you are registered, it is also important that you ensure that your details, such as income and family composition, are correct. We recommend that you check this information regularly. This can prevent disappointments.

At the time of registration, it is important that you have information about your annual income to hand. This also applies to your bank account number in connection with paying the registration fee.
