Register as a home seeker

18 years and older: register as a home seeker

To apply for a rental property from Wetland Wonen, it's important to be registered as a house seeker with De Woningzoeker. People often don't realize they need to register as a house seeker. However, it's important to register. Once you're registered, you accrue a registration period. This is important if you want to be eligible for a property you apply for. You can easily remain registered for several years. You'll automatically receive an annual notification regarding renewal. If you respond promptly, you'll remain registered.

It's important that you're registered with the housing association you want to rent from. Once you're registered, you accrue a registration fee.

This registration period is important when allocating housing.

Suppose you qualify for a home, but the other person on the list has been registered longer and has therefore accumulated more registration time, then the home will pass you by. So register on time. You can do this on the Woningzoeker website: www.dewoningzoeker.nl

You'll then receive an annual notification asking if you want to renew your registration. You'll have to do this yourself; you can also do this through the Woningzoeker website. If you're having trouble or don't have a computer, visit the Wetland Wonen office. They can also assist you.

Once you're registered, it's also important to ensure your information, such as income (and family composition), is correct. We recommend checking this information regularly. This can prevent disappointment.

When you register, it's important to have your annual income information ready. This also applies to your bank account number so we can pay the registration fee.

Registration fee is a one-time fee of €10.00;

The cost for annual renewal is €5.00.

You can also find information about registration at www.wetlandwonen.nl , as well as a brochure explaining how De Woningzoeker works. You can also find a lot of information on the De Woningzoeker website ( www.dewoningzoeker.nl );

“Info and contact”, go to “Questions and answers”.

So, register as a house seeker if you're looking (now or in the future) for a rental property from Wetland Wonen. When you register, you can also indicate the neighborhood you're looking for a home in. If Wetland Wonen doesn't have any properties in that neighborhood, you can't specify that when registering. You can, however, contact Wetland Wonen to indicate your neighborhood preference.

For assistance with registration, you can also contact the Digital Information Point in the library and the Brederwiede Help Desk.

It often turns out that many seniors haven't yet considered registering as a home seeker. Or they keep putting it off because they find it too confronting. Registering is also often seen as a hurdle.
